FTA campaign designed by Awake wins Prince Michael Road Safety Award

Press Release
01/12/2003

The Prince Michael Road Safety Award winning driver fatigue campaign implemented by the Freight Transport Association (FTA), was developed by Awake, the research and consultancy organisation linked to the Loughborough Sleep Research Centre.

The FTA campaign was designed to both draw attention to the potential dangers of trucks being driven by tired drivers and to suggest measures to avoid the situation.

Awake, who have considerable experience in developing schemes for industry, produced information and practical advice for drivers that included posters, leaflets and pocket cards plus an FTA Guide to Driver Fatigue.

Awake’s managing director said, “Falling asleep at the wheel is a major problem for truck drivers and so we are delighted that our campaign for the FTA has been recognised by this prestigious award. The Awake team worked hard to produce a set of materials which would convey the right message in an effective manner, and we are pleased that the campaign and our efforts have received the recognition they deserve.”
